The City of Vandalia will begin work to renew the Enterprise Zone. The City of Vandalia, along with Ramsey, Brownstown and St. Elmo, form the zone for economic development. At Monday’s Vandalia City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Gottman says he will meet with those communities to make sure they are still interested in being part of the Enterprise Zone. And, if they are to move forward with renewing.
In other business at Monday’s meeting, Mayor Gottman announced a new restaurant—JJ’s Restaurant in downtown Vandalia—is now open. Gottman also announced that the Vandalia Eagles on 6th street is now closed.
Meanwhile, the City of Vandalia got some added money for the Fire Department and the Cemetery. Mayor Gottman says they received two checks—both for $9093.81—with one for the Fire Department and the other for South Hill Cemetery. The money comes from the Hazel Simma Kelly Fund.
