The Lady Vandals will play for 3rd Place of the 37th Annual Mattoon Girls Holiday Tournament after finishing Day 2 of the tournament with one win and one loss on the day.
On Tuesday morning, the Lady Vandals capped off pool play with a 78-59 win over Olney East Richland to take 2nd Place in their pool. Makayla Tinker finished with 19 points for the Lady Vandals while Leah Francis had 14 points and Olivia Marquardt 13 points.
In the first playoff round on Tuesday, the Lady Vandals fell to undefeated and state ranked 3A team Galesburg, 80-44. Tinker led Vandalia in scoring with 11 points while Madelyn Hosick was right behind her with 10 points. Madison Klanke and Karlie Bright each tallied 8 points in the game. With the loss to Galesburg, the Lady Vandals move into the 3rd place game on Wednesday evening at 6pm. They will play the loser of the other semifinal game between Salem and Effingham St. Anthony.
