An accident on Christmas Day in Fayette County leads to two individuals being taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Illinois State Police reports indicate that a vehicle driven by 21 year old Wyatt W. Summann of Shobonier was traveling on U.S. Route 51 at County Road 1125 North when State Police say the driver stated he was attempting to get his phone and took his eyes off of the roadway driving into the left side ditch where the car struck a culvert and overturned landing on its top. The driver, Summann, was ejected due to not wearing a seatbelt and the passenger, 23 year old Cheylenne M.D. Haxton of Vandalia, had to be extracted from the vehicle. Both were transported by Air Evac for their injuries. Summann was taken to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield while Haxton was taken to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Summann was ticketed for No Valid License, Improper Lane Usage, Cell Phone Use and Not Wearing a Seatbelt.
