(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Board of Education has moved to drop the ACT college entrance exam for high school juniors and replace it with the SAT test, but the transition may be bumpy. The College Board’s 14-million-dollar bid was lower than the ACT’s by more than one-million-dollars, but there’s been a formal protest from the ACT. Complicating the process is the fact that there’s no money for statewide free testing because of the ongoing budget impasse, leaving some districts to make their own plans and some of them are sticking with the ACT.
