State and Local Police are stepping up enforcement efforts thru the New Year’s Holiday. The holiday campaign has police on the lookout for those not buckled up, distracted drivers and especially drunk drivers says Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson Gianna Urgo.
That will include roadside safety checks and seatbelt enforcement zones. Last year in Illinois, seven people died in traffic crashes over the long Christmas weekend and 594 were injured.
