Nearly half of all high school graduates enrolling in community colleges are needing to take at least one remedial class. State Board of Education spokesperson Amanda Simhauser says 48.7 percent of students from the class of 2013 needed remediation.
What’s concerning is that while you have to pay for these remedial courses, you don’t earn college credit for them. The subject where students seem to be struggling with the most as they enter college is math.
