(Washington, DC) — President Barack Obama is commuting prison sentences for nine people from Illinois. The commutations are for prisoners that were convicted for non-violent drug offenses, most of which involved distribution of cocaine. The individuals commuted are from Chicago, Peoria, Carbondale, Danville, Cahokia and Long Island. The President commuted a total of 95 prison sentences.
