(Dixon, IL) — Federal prosecutors are seeking approval of a settlement agreement in the case of Rita Crundwell, the former comptroller and treasurer in the northern Illinois town of Dixon who was convicted of embezzling over 53-million dollars. The Justice Department filed a motion on Friday in Illinois federal court seeking about 680-thousand dollars from Crundwell’s share of a family farm in Lee County. The motion, if approved, would bring the total of recovered assets for Dixon to ten-point-three-million dollars. Crundwell was arrested in 2012 and sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison in 2013.
