Three individuals are now in custody in the Fayette County Jail, after they allegedly took police on a chase last night following allegedly fleeing from the State Police. Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says the Illinois State Police attempted to make the traffic stop on Interstate 70 at the 67 mile marker. But, Sheriff Smith says the individuals fled going east on I-70 and then exited off the interstate at the St. Elmo exit and went south. Sheriff Smith says the individuals then fled out of their vehicle and they were eventually apprehended. Sheriff Smith says they had a roadblock in the area while searching for the individuals. The individuals arrested were 33-year old Shawn D. Adamson and 26 year old Corey J. Mitchell, both of Mattoon, and 27 year old Christine L. Koehler. Adamson is facing pending charges of aggravated fleeing or eluding police, driving while license suspended or revoked, obstructing justice, unlawful use or possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper display of registration.
