(Springfield, IL) — A former Springfield day-care operator is looking at prison time after she was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection the with death of an infant. Cammie Kelly was originally charged with murder in the case. Authorities say she was watching 11-month-old Kaiden Gullidge in 2011 just days before he was pronounced dead. Kelly was convicted of lesser charges after prosecution and defense experts differed on whether the child died from falling over or from a stroke. Kelly faces up to five years behind bars.
