(Springfield, IL) — Governor Bruce Rauner’s administration is announcing it’s willing to cap health insurance premium increases for state employees. The “State Journal-Register” reports the cap would be at ten-percent for the 2018 and 2019 fiscal years. A letter from the governor’s office also says for completed contracts with state worker unions and in current proposals, less expensive plans will be offered with the same carriers and same services largely at the same premium costs being currently offered. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which doesn’t have a new contract yet with the state, responded by calling the offer misleading.
