The Illinois Department of Transportation is reminding passengers that they need to buckle up, not matter where they sit. While the number of people wearing a seat belt in the front seat of a car is at an all time high of more than 95 percent, a new report finds back seat passengers are lagging behind says I-DOT spokesperson Gianna Urgo.
The survey also showed downstate people are more likely to buckle up in the backseat and adults in Chicago and Cook County are the least likely to be wearing their seat belt.
