Illinois lawmakers are approving some reforms to the state’s unemployment insurance system. The bill estimates a 470 million tax increase for employers and a reduction in benefits for workers. It also strengthens misconduct rules to help prevent fraud and abuse of the unemployment benefit program. The measure was supported by State Representative Keith Wheeler.
The Governor supports the bill and plans to sign it into law.
