(Palatine, IL) — Palatine’s high school board could vote this evening on a settlement in the controversial case of a transgender student who wants to use the girls’ locker room. The board is risking federal sanctions, including the possible loss of millions of dollars, if they don’t reach an accommodation that satisfies the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights. The board hasn’t released the details of the proposed settlement, but its prior arrangement of having the student use a private restroom was rejected by federal authorities.
