(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers are pushing forward a measure that would provide at least some state funding during the budget crisis. The Illinois House approved a measure that would release more than three-billion-dollars to pay state lottery winners, operate 9-1-1 centers, train firefighters and plow roads. The Senate is scheduled to return to Springfield on Monday to vote on the bill.
As of last report, the City of Vandalia had not received Motor Fuel Tax funds since June, no Use Tax money since August and no Gaming Tax Money since June. And, the total was over $200,000 that was owed to the City of Vandalia by the state for the past due water and sewer bills at the Vandalia Correctional Center.
