(Springfield, IL) — Despite the state budget stalemate that’s now in its sixth month, the Illinois economy continues to grow. The University of Illinois Flash Index grew to 106-point-one in November, reversing three months of slight declines. U. of I. economist J. Fred Giertz says it’s hard to pinpoint the impact of the budget crisis on the local economy, but said at some point the deadlock will take its toll.
