It was a soggy end to the season for Illinois farmers as we hear in the last weekly crop report of the year. Wet conditions kept farmers out of the fields for most of the week, with above average rainfall across Illinois. That put average statewide topsoil moisture at 2 percent very short, 8 percent short, 75 percent adequate and 15 percent surplus. State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener assesses the wheat crop.
Pasture conditions also improved over the week and now are rated at 18 percent very poor to poor, 37 percent fair and 45 percent good to excellent.
