(Springfield, IL) — The Vendor Payment Program is being suspended because Illinois lawmakers have not been able to agree on a budget. The program was created in 2011 as a way to allow companies to collect some of the money they are owed by the state. The goal was to cut back on the amount interest the state has to pay on late bills. Illinois is often late paying bills because of its large amount of debt.
