(Undated) — Hunting totals are up for the first weekend of the Illinois Firearm Deer Season. The state Department of Natural Resources says hunters harvested nearly 58-thousand deer from November 20th through the 22nd. Those numbers are more than the almost 52-thousand harvested last year.
As for this area, Fayette County saw a deer harvest of 1154 during the first weekend this year, compared to 1035 last year. Bond County saw a deer harvest of 499 during this first hunting weekend, compared to 405 last year. Effingham County was at 624 this year, up from 519 a year ago, Marion County was up to 1090, which is up from 979 in the first weekend last year and Montgomery County saw a harvest of 681 in the first weekend, that’s up from 587 one year ago.
