The City of Vandalia still dealing with lots of missing funds from the State of Illinois. But, the City Police Department is going to see if they might be able to afford to get a new squad car. At Monday night’s Vandalia City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Gottman informed the City Council the City Police Department had a squad car that the transmission had gone out and the repair costs would be a few thousand dollars and the car was not worth that much, being it is a 2004. So, Mayor Gottman says he asked the City Council to authorize getting bids from both Arthur Young and Hosick Motors for a new squad car and just see what the cost would be. Gottman said they have nearly $24,000 in the DUI fund they could put towards the cost of a new car. But, they would see what bids came in at before any decision was made.
