SFC Luke E. Hortenstine, 35, of Cumberland Furnace, TN, formerly of Ramsey, IL, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015, at his home.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Ramsey Christian Church, Ramsey, IL, with Pastor Terry Sapp, officiating. Burial will follow at the Hortenstine Family Cemetery, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 20, 2015, at Ramsey Christian Church, Ramsey, IL. He was born on August 11, 1980, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Marc Bradley and Diane Nell (Thull) Hortenstine. He married Tina Fry on August 05, 2000, in Ramsey, IL. He was currently serving in the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Campbell, KY, as an active duty soldier and was an Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran in the U.S. Army. Luke was a devoted Christian who served as youth leader at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cumberland Furnace, TN, and due to his great love for hunting and fishing, Luke was currently a HOOAH volunteer.
He is survived by: Devoted Wife – Tina (Fry) Hortenstine, Cumberland Furnace, TN; Son – Nicholas Hortenstine; Daughters – Ashley Boucher & Brooklyn Hortenstine; Parents – Marc & Diane Hortenstine, Ramsey, IL; Grandmother – Carolyn Hortenstine, Ramsey, IL; Brothers – Nathan Hortenstine & Jancey, and Ben Hortenstine & Dana, all of Ramsey, IL; several Aunts & Uncles; and several Nephews & Nieces.
Preceded in death by: Brother – Daniel Hortenstine and Grandparents – John & Millie Thull and Dan Hortenstine.
