(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Commerce Commission has given the green light to a high-capacity power line that would bring electricity from wind farms in Kansas to Illinois, Missouri and Indiana. The line called the Grain Belt Express would deliver about four-thousand megawatts of power to the grid serving this part of the midwest. The project has already been approved by authorities in Kansas and Indiana, leaving Missouri as the lone holdout.
