What has become one of Vandalia’s biggest events of the year is set to kick off its two day run tonight. Olde Tyme Christmas is set to get underway at 5 pm this evening in downtown Vandalia. The events will get started with the lighting of the City Christmas Tree at 5 pm and the annual Rotary Christmas Parade also getting underway at 5 pm. Starting at 6 pm, you can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus inside Something Special Florist and Evans Public Library will have Story Time starting at 6 pm, as well. Several vendors will be downtown along with several other events and special guests throughout downtown Vandalia, including the Frozen Characters, the Sugar Plumb Fairies, A live Nativity Scene and many others. Olde Tyme Christmas will be from 5 pm to 10 pm tonight and then from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. Meanwhile, as for the weather, there will be a little feel of the chill of the Christmas season in the air, but not too much. According to Weather Underground at www.vandaliaradio.com we’ll be at 48 degrees for the start of the evening at 5 pm and then down to 37 degrees by the time it all wraps up at 10 pm tonight.
