(Chicago, IL) — Playing the lottery in Illinois has gotten less popular since the state stopped paying out big prizes because of the budget impasse. Sales records from October show that ticket sales were down to their lowest level in nearly two years. The state announced in October that only prizes of 600-dollars or less would be paid immediately. This week, Governor Rauner reversed himself and indicated he’d support a bill to resume lottery prize payouts, but Democrats didn’t take it up, so there might not be a deal until January.
