(Chicago, IL) — Renegade Democratic lawmaker Ken Dunkin is taking credit for Governor Rauner’s new stance on cuts to child care and aid for the elderly and disabled. Dunkin, a Chicago Democrat, says it was his persuasion that led Rauner to reverse himself on the cuts and that’s why Dunkin was the lone holdout when Democrats tried to overturn Rauner’s rule-making move with legislation. Dunkin claims he got nothing for voting against his party except Rauner’s decision to restart the incentive program for film production companies. Democratic party chief Michael Madigan didn’t rule out the possibility of backing a candidate to oust Duncan next year.
