Our Veterans Day afternoon and night could potentially be filled with some severe weather. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says conditions remain favorable for the area to see some severe weather over this area Wednesday afternoon and night. The NWS in St. Louis says the danger is fast moving storms coming thru the area, bring large swaths of damaging straight line winds, possibly some hail and possibly tornadoes forming with the storms. Several counties to our south—with Jefferson County being the closest to us—have a Hazardous Weather Outlook update from the National Weather Service, but there is no such outlook given for this area at this time. As of now the forecast for Wednesday calls for a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon with a high of 66 with winds out of the south gusting up to 30 miles per hour. Then, there is a 70% chance of showers and t-storms later that night, before midnight, with a low of 45 and strong winds again—starting from the south and shifting to the west. After that, some cooler temps would settle over the area for Thursday and Friday.
