(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner proposed compromise on child care assistance may not be enough to head off a planned vote this week on a bill to undo his cuts. After making changes that eliminated tens of thousands of low-income families from the program, Rauner now says he’s willing to roll back some of those changes. Several state lawmakers, a group of Chicago aldermen, and the union representing child care workers say Rauner’s changes are not enough, and called for a vote on the bill.
