(Springfield, IL) — Governor Bruce Rauner is fighting to preserve changes he enacted that make it more difficult for seniors and the disabled to qualify for home care services. Lawmakers passed a bill undoing Rauner’s efforts to raise the eligibility score needed to qualify for the Home Services Program, but now Rauner has issued an amendatory veto that would make home care and institutional care equivalent options. Advocates say that will mean fewer seniors and disabled people will be able to stay in their homes and get the care they need.
