Farmers had to hit pause this past week on harvest thanks to a decent amount of rain around the state of Illinois. The rain was needed but it did keep producers from wrapping up the harvest season in some areas says State Crop Statistician Mark Schluesener.
96 percent of soybeans have been harvested. 89 percent of winter wheat has been planted and 69 percent has emerged. Average statewide topsoil moisture increased to 6 percent very short, 32 percent short, 57 percent adequate and 5 percent surplus.
