(Palatine, IL) — The largest high school district in Illinois is accused of violating federal law after denying a transgender student access to the girl’s locker room. The U.S. Department of Education ruled yesterday that Palatine-based District 211 didn’t comply with Title Nine. That law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. School officials instead offered a separate changing room. The district has 30-days to reach an agreement with authorities or faces a loss of federal funding.
