(Springfield, IL) — A University of Illinois-Springfield project that works to clear innocent people accused of serious crimes is getting a big federal grant. The Illinois Innocence Project receives the grant worth nearly 754-thousand dollars from the U.S. Department of Justice. The grant is specifically for cases involving DNA testing of Latinos who might be innocent.
