(New York, NY) — The Kansas City Royals reeled off three runs in the eighth inning to knock off the New York Mets, 5-3 at Citi Field and take a 3-1 lead in the World Series. Ben Zobrist scored the tying run on a Daniel Murphy error in the eighth. Mike Moustakas gave the Royals the lead with an RBI-single, and Salvador Perez added an RBI-single of his own to pad the lead. Chris Young tossed four frames of two-run ball, and the Royals’ bullpen combined for five frames of one-run ball. Ryan Madson earned the win and Wade Davis picked up the save. Kansas City is one game away from its first World Series title in 30 years. Tyler Clippard took the loss for the Mets, giving up two walks and two runs in relief. Jeurys Familia blew the save in the loss. Michael Conforto drilled two solo homers for New York. The game ended when Mets’ outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was doubled-off at first on a bloop flyball to Moustakas.
