Edward E. Ward, 82, of Brownstown, died at 10:23 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Vandalia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Vandalia.
Private family burial at Pilcher Cemetery, rural Brownstown will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Golden Years Building Fund, Pilcher Cemetery, the family, or the donor’s choice. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.
Edward Eugene Ward was born on Thursday, August 31, 1933 in rural Brownstown to Henry and Mary (Smith) Ward. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. On Saturday, November 17, 1956, he married Alice Oldham and she survives. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad.
Ed is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Alice Ward of Brownstown; his sons, Jeff Ward of Brownstown, Billy Ward and his wife Brenda of Strasburg, Jimmie Ward and his wife Lori of Vandalia; sisters, Cora Pruett of Brownstown; four grandchildren, Christal Ward, Kandi Housley, Anthony Ward and Kelsy Ward; seven step grandchildren, Blake Phegley, Joshua Phegley, Jenny Bunyard, Jessica Bunyard, Jeff Davis, Jeremy Davis and Beth Davis; five great grandchildren and fifteen step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Bradley Ward, sisters, Marie Kingery and Mary Ruth Kinney.
