Two area volleyball teams saw their season come to a close Thursday night with losses in the IHSA 1A Regional Championships. At the South Central Regional, the host Cougars and #1 seed fell to Cisne 22-25, 27-25, 18-25. South Central Coach Mary Brimberry said she was confident in her team’s record in three set matches this season but they just could not get past Cisne in the end.
South Central ends their season with a record of 26-8. Cisne will move on to the St. Elmo Sectional where they will play Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 7pm.
At the Oblong 1A Regional, third-seeded St. Elmo-Brownstown fell to second-seeded Clay City 26-24, 22-25, 21-25. St. Elmo-Brownstown ends their season at 23-13. Clay City will now play Metro East Lutheran at 6pm Tuesday night in the St. Elmo Sectional.

At the Neoga Regional, Windsor/Stew-Stras beat Effingham St. Anthony 25-17, 25-22
In 2A Regional Championship games:
At the Pana Regional, Pana beat Hillsboro 25-16, 25-17
At the Carlinville Regional, Piasa Southwestern beat Carlinville 26-28, 25-23, 25-23
At the Cumberland Regional, Shelbyville beat T-Town 25-20, 25-15
