(Chicago, IL) — Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s long fall from grace concluded today with a guilty plea to his hush money case, but he will be spared having embarrassing details about his past revealed in court. Hastert admitted evading reporting requirements on multiple bank withdrawals he made. That money was to buy the silence of an unnamed individual, reportedly about sex abuse involving students when he was a teacher and coach in Yorkville. The plea deal means Hastert could face up to six months in prison. He made no comment as he left the Dirksen Federal Building.
