(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lottery players appear to be flocking across the borders after word that Illinois won’t pay out any prizes over six-hundred-dollars because of the lottery impasse. The St. Louis “Post-Dispatch” reports that retailers near the border in Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and Iowa report an uptick in purchases in the last few weeks and say customers tell them they’re coming from Illinois. A group of big prize winners in Illinois is filing suit against the state to collect their overdue winnings, and a bill introduced in Springfield would allow those payouts even without a budget in place.
