The latest U.S. Drought monitor report shows drought conditions in parts of Illinois. The report places a large swath from western Illinois, tapering across the state to eastern Illinois in the categories of either abnormally dry or moderate drought. Southeastern Illinois is rated as abnormally dry as well. State Climatologist Jim Angel says we don’t need to be too concerned just yet.
But Angel says Illinois could use some rain. Some areas haven’t seen much lately, and have been four to six inches below normal for rainfall the past couple of months.
