A traffic stop for expired registration and following too closely led to an arrests for possession of better than 60 pounds of cannabis on Thursday afternoon by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith gives some of the details after the traffic stop was made.
The cannabis was found in the vehicle in three large duffel bags and was bagged in 64 separate bags, layered over several times and each bag weighing about one pound or better. the 64 pounds of cannabis would have a street value estimated at between $192,000 to $320,000. Sheriff Smith says the stop was made by part-time Deputy Stacy McElroy on Interstate 70. The individual arrested, 37 year old Julia A. Macri of Colorado, is being held on pending charges of cannabis trafficking, manufacture or delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis of greater than 5000 grams.
