St. Elmo-Brownstown began play in the National Trail Conference Tournament by going 1-1 in pool play. The Lady Eagles fell in their first match of the night to Dieterich 21-25, 25-16, 19-25. In the match, Gabi Moore had 10 kills and 22 digs, Sarah Maxey had 18 assists and 9 digs and Brandi Howard had 5 kills.
In their second match of the evening, the Lady Eagles picked up a 25-15, 25-20 win. Sarah Maxey had 18 assists and 17 digs, Gabi Moore had 8 kills and 11 digs, Emily Bone had 4 kills and 4 digs and Brandi Howard had 5 kills.
St. Elmo-Brownstown is now 17-10 on the season and will face Stew-Stras/Windsor at 6p.m. in their final pool play game at St. Anthony High School. The tournament will then conclude on Saturday.
For South Central, they defeated Altamont, 25-11, 25-17 in their first match. Deidra Schaal had 12 points–4 aces, 5 kills and 3 digs in the match and Emily Chapman added 8 kills.
In their second match, South Central got a 25-13, 25-19 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. Deidra Schaal had 11 points from 7 aces, 1 kill and 2 digs in the match. South Central is now 23-5 overall on the season. They will play Effingham St. Anthony tonight at 7 pm in the NTC Tournament.
