(Chicago, IL) — We may find out if a plea deal has been reached in the case involving former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert. A federal judge wanted a decision by today’s hearing so a trial date can be set if necessary. Talks of a possible settlement were revealed last month. Tuesday was the deadline to file a motion to dismiss the indictment, but nothing was submitted. Hastert is accused of lying to the FBI about millions of dollars in bank withdrawals used as payoffs to hide past sexual misconduct.
