Tickets given out by law enforcement in the county will look a bit different in the near future after the Fayette County Board approved a contract with Saltus Technologies for the digiTicket system. Circuit Clerk Kathy Emerick speaking about the system says it will have several advantages with one of the biggest being the time it takes officers to issue tickets while out on the road.
Emerick says using the system in which licenses are scanned by a handheld device and tickets are printed out will help cut down on information errors as well.
The total cost of implementing the system will be $67,171 with $50,000 of that to come from automation funds as approved by the Chief Circuit Judge. We will talk more with Emerick about the new system tomorrow on Newscenter.
