(Chicago, IL) — It could be unveiled this week if there will be a plea deal in the case involving former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert. Lawyers revealed last month in federal court they were discussing a possible settlement. The judge wants to know a decision by Thursday’s hearing so a trial date can be set if necessary. Hastert is accused of lying to the FBI about millions of dollars in bank withdrawals used as payoffs to hide past sexual misconduct.
