Governor Bruce Rauner is telling Democratic lawmakers it’s time to either approve his reforms, or pass a budget with a tax hike. The state is in it’s fourth month without a budget which Governor Rauner calls “unbelievable” and “outrageous.” He says a budget needs to be passed, along with his proposed reforms like freezing property taxes and reforming the collective bargaining process. He urges lawmakers to act now.
After the speech, House Speaker Michael Madigan issued a press release saying the Governor continues to focus more on his proposed reforms than negotiating a budget deal.
