Enrollment numbers in school districts are a common statistic looked at by administrators at the beginning of and throughout each school year as they track the flow of students in and out of their districts and how it will affect their bottom line. An unexpected bonus of the Enbridge pipeline construction in the area has been an increase in the enrollment numbers for the Vandalia School District which Superintendent Rich Well says has been a big positive for the district.
As Well stated, the students who have come to Vandalia because of the Enbridge construction are expected to be with the district through Christmas. Their attendance for the fall semester should help them when it comes to financial aid received.
Overall, the Enbridge construction project has brought about 500 workers to the area and most of the work is expected to be wrapped up by the end of October.
