Sexual Assault and Family Emergency services or SAFE recently received funding from the Scarpaci Foundation to purchase a new phone system. SAFE serves nine counties including Fayette and Bond Counties and operates a hot line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The new phone system has caller ID which SAFE executive director Mary Harrington says, “will help protect victims in a crisis.” Harrington further explains, “Everyone on the SAFE team brings different talents to the table and we make every effort to utilize those talents to serve our nine counties. I am reminded daily of the fantastic team we have developed here at SAFE. All of this could not happen without our phone system. Thanks to the grant money we received from the Scarpaci Foundation we can further assist our clients.” The Scarpaci Foundation, created in 1989, is named for Joe and Elwena Scarpaci, who were active members in the Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, and local civic organizations. Foundation funds are distributed through the Trust Department at The First National Bank.
