(Phoenix, AZ) — Stargazers will want to look up over the weekend for a special event. Not only will there be a “supermoon,” but there will also be a lunar eclipse. It’s the first time there has been a supermoon eclipse since 1982. The “supermoon” happens when the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit. The eclipse is due to start at around 8 p.m. Sunday, and it’ll take about an hour for the total eclipse to start after that.
The total eclipse is due to last for more than an hour. The best view will be in the eastern U.S. If you miss it, there will be another supermoon eclipse in 2033.
