The clean up work following the demolition of two downtown buildings is nearing completion. At Monday night’s Vandalia City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Gottman told the City Council that Razmus Demolition is hoping to wrap up their work quickly. Gottman stated the basements had been dug out at that time and they were ready to back fill and then seed and straw the area. And, just the dirt is now visible on the site. Gottman said they did have to perform some asbestos removal—having to remove about $12,000 of asbestos. Gallatin Street opened back up to thru traffic last week.
