No budget for the state is causing more and more hardships each day for many different groups that rely on state funding to keep their doors open. And, without a change in the state’s budget status, the Midland Area Agency on Aging will unfortunately join that list. The Midland Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors met this past week and voted that due to the budget impasse to close their office and furlough the employees one day per week beginning on October 1st, which is the start of the new fiscal year for the agency. Midland Area Agency on Aging covers Fayette, Effingham, Clay, Jefferson and Marion Counties. The office will be closed on Mondays starting with October 5th. It will continue to be closed on Mondays until there is a budget in place. By doing the Monday closing, it will allow the Agency to remain open until the end of February.
