Mary Emma Ball, 93, of Altamont died at 10:37 a.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at her home.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with Rev. Willie Deuel officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. As per Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church where Mary had been a faithful member for many years and had been active with the United Methodist Women.
Mary Emma (Combs) Ball was born on Thursday, February 16, 1922 in rural Altamont to Harry Edd and Christena Louisa (Dickman) Combs. She married Darrel Ball on Monday, December 4, 1944 at Camp Atterberry, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1981. She was retired from Contel where she had been a business office supervisor. In addition to her church she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Effingham County Homemakers Extension, Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676 Ladies Auxiliary, McCoy Club and the Independent Pioneer Telephone Association.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
