Brownstown-St. Elmo and Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick each picked up wins on night two of the Egyptian Illini Conference baseball tournament Tuesday night.
The top-seeded Bombers took an early 4-0 lead in the first, adding one more in the 3rd and five more in the 4th inning for a 10-0 lead. Ramsey would put their first run on the board in the top of the 5th but a one out double by Landon Feezel would score Lewis Brown to end the game with BSE winning 11-1 in five innings. BSE is now 2-0 in the tournament.
In the late game, BCCH got on the board first for a 1-0 lead before Mulberry Grove scored 2 in the 2nd for a 2-1 lead. BCCH added one more run to tie the game in the 3rd and then broke out for 5 runs in the 4th for a 7-3 lead. Mulberry Grove added 2 runs in the 4th to cut the lead to 7-5, but the Eagles tacked on 3 more in the 5th and held on for the 10-5 win. With the win, BCCH is now 1-1 in the tournament and Mulberry Grove moves to 1-1 as well.
The tournament will continue with its final night on Thursday with #3 seed Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick facing #4 Ramsey at 4:15pm and then top seed Brownstown-St. Elmo takes on #2 seed Mulberry Grove at 7pm to wrap up tournament play.
